You Are Your Words

Here is a neat site. YouAreYourWords.com It takes your picture and turns it into your words. What a powerful way to teach kids about how their words makes them who they are. This would be a great way to teach about bullying, just a fun way to do a writing project about a historical figure, or a great scrapbook keep sake.

The program is slow but very user friendly. We found that it was easier to just take a picture with our webcam than to upload one.

Here's what we came up with. After we took the picture we could zoom in and make sure the eyes and mouth were where they needed to be. There are a few other things you can control like the color palette, fonts, and contrast. The hardest thing about this was coming up with the 400 words it asked for but I was working with a 5 year old.

I just keep thinking about all the possibilities and fun ways to use this fun site. You can share your images on facebook and twitter or just download them to your computer. I'm thinking this would make a fun scrapbook page for my kids. It would be so much fun to take a picture each year and then write about their favorite things and accomplishments. This will make writing projects a little more entertaining when we enter that phase in our life.

I recommend this site for all grades. Everyone could have fun playing on this site.
