Khan Academy

I finally heard about a great site to help high school students with math. It's called Khan Academy. I haven't seen anything like this yet but wow. It's a site full of videos and practice lessons to help everyone understand math. They have a library of offer 2,000 videos on a variety of topics. The ones I watched were short but very helpful. This is a wonderful resource for parents helping older children with higher level math. It's also a great place for students to go when they just can't remember what the teacher said or how to do the homework.

You can also sign up to Khan Academy and they will then give you problems to complete and track your progress. The levels begin with basic addition and move up from there. Once you prove that you know your stuff the program encourages you to pick a more difficult unit.
You can even use scratch paper right on the program. It takes some getting use to but helps with those more difficult problems.
This site would be great for anyone to visit, especially students when they are on Summer break. To add a little twist, make it a challenge to see who can pass the most units, the student or the parent.
