I had a special request to find second grade math topics. The biggest concept a second grader needs to know is how to regroup. Basically how to make 10 ones turn into a ten. Here is practice site that I was very impressed with.
It took me a little while to figure out how to work the game but once I did it was easy.
I really like that it uses visuals as well as numbers. It's also interactive so you can move the dots and see how it makes 10.
Once you make 10 YOU are responsible for moving in into the 10's column, the computer doesn't do it for you like in so many other games.
Once you make 10 you then you just finish adding the rest.
There is green check mark that shows you once you get it right. If it's wrong you can reset the problem and try again. Once you have it right click next for a new problem.
I like that this site is interactive and that the child has to do most of the work. I also like that you can keep trying until you get it right. Not every problem is a regrouping problem either so it reminds kids that they still need to think about what they are doing and not just write the one in the tens column like I see so many kids do on worksheets.
