Back to School

It's back to school time. I can't believe it's time fall ready. Summer just flew by. This means back to school shopping time. I like to start early and get the deals but you never know what the teachers are going to need until back to school night or the first day of school. Here are a few suggestions.

Binder/organizer of some sort. I recommend one of those xylophone folders. Then spend some time with your child teaching them how to use it and how to stay organized. Label one for each subject and then have one for homework and finally one for important notes that you need to see. Remind them and go through this for the first month so they know how to use it. Then just check it monthly.

Pencils - Please buy some to donate to the classroom! Unfortunately there is no such thing as free public education. With so many frequent budget cuts schools need as much help as they can get.

Pencil Sharpeners - PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't buy your student a pencil sharpener to use at their desk. This just creates a HUGE mess in the classroom and in their desk. If you want to buy a pencil sharpener buy an electric one and donate it to the class.

Crayons and Pencils - If you can remember to purchase a few extra for the classroom if possible.

Pencil boxes - I like the ones that zip. You can still hold everything but if they are trading classes for any reason and have to take their pencil box it won't spill when they move.

Paper - I also recommend donating white paper for copies. It takes a lot of paper to run a classroom.

Hand sanitizer - Stock up when there is a sale and donate throughout the year. This is a must have!!

Make sure you buy durable items as well. You want their stuff to last all year, two years if you are lucky.

Any help you can give your schools will be appreciated. For other classroom needs e-mail the teacher and ask them what they need or what your student will need for the upcoming year. You most definitely want to beat the rush!
